Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

Fan made productions are dicey at best, but at least Gods and Men has the benefit of well known Star Trek actors lending their support to the cause. Had this been Studio-backed, it would have been amongst the best of the Trek movies as the superb script itself, drawing on 2 characters from episodes of the original 60’s series, would qualify this as a 4-5 star movie. However the amateur production qualities (though don’t get me wrong the sets are quite impressive and faithful to the original series) lets the film down, and the CGI is not up to the caliber of Trek film or TV episodes one expects today, however the cast gives it their best, making this an enjoyable, if not sometimes embarrassing, viewing experience: 2.5 stars.
