The Smashed Apricot – Trailer

Submitted by Jason Ensor on Wednesday, 25 November 2009No Comment

The Smashed Apricot (Arts Naked Publications, 2009) contains 15 original cocktails, all of which have been tested, refined and enjoyed at many a family gathering. Each recipe has a photo of its contributor and an anecdote which provides some history, potency or suggested occasion for which the drink was made.

The idea for The Smashed Apricot was first raised in 2007 but its origins date back to the 1970s when Rana’s father Will was creating a name for himself as an inspired cocktail maker at university. Conceived as a small community-driven not-for-profit publication, this book celebrates our family’s love of making and sharing cocktails. When our first son Xavier was born with a unilateral hearing loss, the Telethon Speech & Hearing Centre became an important cause for us to support through this book. Proceeds from the sale of The Smashed Apricot will benefit 2 year-old hearing-impaired Xavier and all his friends at Telethon Speech & Hearing Centre for Children in Wembley, Western Australia.

International orders for The Smashed Apricot can be placed through the online print-on-demand provider Lulu for $19.95 US (plus p/h).

Australian-based orders for The Smashed Apricot can be placed through Telethon Speech & Hearing by phone ( +61 8 ) 9387 9888, fax ( +61 8 ) 9387 9889 or by email to one of the book’s editors (rana.ensor at bigpond.com). The Australian edition costs $20.00 AUD plus p/h (and it has a glossy cover).
